CA Autumn Event - Steampunk Ruby

Autumn Quest 1:
”Steampunk Fashionista!”
The world of Steampunk is a fun and unique style genre mashing together elements from Victorian-era, post apocalyptic, military and modern clothing, accented by technological accessories to really give it that rustic and classic feel. It’s fascinated people for decades, and now it’s your turn! 

Dress your girl in a fun and funky steampunk outfit and tell us her thoughts about it or where she’d wear it!

She dug through her many piles of carefully folded fabrics, all colour coded for convenience. She knew she had it SOMEWHERE, dammit. The perfect green. Ah yes! There!! It had slid off it's pile but she found it! With a triumphant grin she pulled it out and hugged the thick bolt of fabric. She could finally finish her outfit. 

Kyung-Mi had come to her just last week asking her if she could help with a Steampunk outfit and Ruby was only too happy to help her friend. Now that she'd finished with it though, she had the itch to make more so logically, it only made sense to make herself one as well. Last night she'd stayed up til nearly 2am drafting patterns for skirts and a vest, so today she planned to power through all the cutting and sewing. 

12 hours, 6 cups of tea, 15 pins stabbings, 8 Miguelitos, 4 interruptions by annoying siblings, 3 bathroom breaks and 1 forced lunch by Mama and she was finished! Ruby stood in font of her full length mirror in her tiny room she shared with her sisters, Mia and Sadie, and modeled the outfit, fluffing the jabot and adjusting the gem that held it to her throat. She grinned widely, turning this way and that, ruffling the skirts and smoothing the lace. She adjusted her hat and it's draping one last time. With a giggle she turned to Mia.

"What do you think?" 

Mia rolled over on her bed and tilted her head at her older sister, "Looks good! Can I have one too?"

Ruby laughed came over, kissing Mia on the forehead, "Soon as I get back from the party I'll make one for you too, but I gotta get going or I'm gonna be late!"

Mia giggled and waved her off with a "have fun!" and Ruby made her way out, letting her parents know she'd be staying the night at her friend's and would be back tomorrow. Once out of sight, she reached into her belt pouch and gave her brooch a squeeze. Within seconds she found herself standing in one of the teleportation rooms of the Crystal Caverns. She moved quickly down the long hallway, through the main hall and down the winding staircase. Music and laughter echoed up at her and soon she emerged into what was now designated "The Party Room", grinning as she saw all the beautiful costumes. The girls had really outdone themselves in their steampunk attire, with their rustling bustles and flouncy laces. She could barely contain herself. She wanted to see them all, ask about them. 

"RUBY!" 

The voice carried above the others and she turned in the direction of it, grinning at Frankie as the blue haired woman waved her over to join her and their friends. Lu. Kyung-Mi. Kachina. Elanor. Sanjica. Lien. Jackie. Kira. Sienna. And so many more. Her friends. She was still getting used to this. She had REAL friends, who liked her, quirks and all. Encouraged her, even. Her heart swelled in her chest as she joined in the laughing and admiring of outfits. She finally had a place where she belonged. And she would do anything to protect it and her new family.

Any chance for Ruby to pull together and outfit for herself or for anyone else, you KNOW she's there and will go all out for it. XD Girl loves her costuming! XDDDD
